The state of Berlin wants to research, develop and test the future of urban mobility intensively to provide the prerequisites for a safe, efficient and sustainable traffic. The various projects in the “Digital Test Field Urban Traffic Berlin” focus on automated and connected driving (AVF) and enhanced environmentally sensitive traffic management (eUVM).
Automated and connected driving (AVF) plays a major role in Berlin’s transportation research. In addition to many studies on organizational and legal issues, research activities focus on tests in real traffic environments.
With the help of an extended environmentally sensitive traffic management (eUVM), the air pollution load in highly polluted areas of Berlin is to be reduced and a contribution to the mobility transformation is to be made.
Berlin is a highly important research location in the mobility sector. The Senate Department for the Environment, Urban Mobility, Consumer Protection and Climate Action is working on a large number of research projects in this area. These projects aim to develop, test and validate innovative and environmentally friendly transport and mobility solutions. The findings and experiences gained from these projects contribute to a sustainable, urban and environmentally friendly transportation.
The aim of the Senate Department for the Environment, Urban Mobility, Consumer Protection and Climate Action is to combine and present the multitude of projects under an umbrella brand and thus to further raise the strategic visibility and strengthen Berlin as a location in the core topics of digitization, environmentally sensitive traffic management and highly automated, autonomous and connected driving.
Future innovative traffic projects of environmentally sensitive traffic management and highly automated, autonomous and connected driving can be managed in coordination with the Senate Department for the Environment, Urban Mobility, Consumer Protection and Climate Action within the framework of the present concept under the brand “Digital Test Field Urban Traffic Berlin”. The state of Berlin is inviting those who are interested, to intensively research, develop and test the future of urban mobility in this regard.
