On March 27, 2019, the SAFARI project presented its interim results at the Reinickendorf test site and at the adjacent BVG bus depot. In addition to the city councilor of the Reinickendorf district, Katrin Schultze-Berndt, and representatives of the district office, visitors from the VLB, the BVG, the funding agency VDI/VDE and the BMVI were welcomed. Likewise, a selected professional audience of other companies gathered information about what had been achieved and the next steps. The visitors were impressed by the demonstrations of data analysis during the live drives of the test vehicles in the test field and at the demo booths of all project partners. The range of solutions presented included high-tech LIDAR systems, special cameras that will soon be installed in series-production vehicles, and a smartphone app that can be retrofitted to one of the three new BVG electricity-powered buses. The test vehicles used here were those of DCAITI, Fraunhofer FOKUS, FU, HELLA Aglaia and IAV, as well as a vehicle of the district of Reinickendorf equipped with retrofittable technology.
